Martin Edward Schmitke
August 8, 1939 –May 3, 2008
Martin was born August 8, 1939 in Stephen, MN As the second youngest, he was taken care of in large part by his older siblings. Martin and Carl were close playmates. Martin would serve in the army in the late 1950’s. Martin loved playing horseshoes and would go on to play in tournaments.
Martin was married to Annabelle Kress in August of 1960. They would have four children, Alan, Martin Jr., Karen, and Becky. Martin and his wife would divorce in 1970. Martin would have a short marriage to a woman named Carol, then would marry Andrea Nutt in 1982. He would adopt Andrea’s children, Dana and Duane. The marriage ended in 1991. On May 8, 1999, Martin married Joyce Edwards and remained married to her until his death on May 3, 2008. He died from a type of ataxia. Martin is buried in Morris, IL
