Carl Gustav Schmitke, Jr.
July 30, 1941 — December 27, 1988
Carl was born July 30, 1941 and was the last child born to Carl Sr. & Alvina Schmitke. He was only 5 yrs. old when his mother died. Much of his care was left to his older siblings as Carl Sr. did not handle the death of Alvina well. Carl Sr. drank more than usual for a couple of years, and Carl Jr. would be left sitting in the car until he came out of the bar. As the older siblings left, Carl Jr. would live with his dad (who did stop drinking) until he graduated from high school and joined the arm for a couple of years. He then came back and went to work. He never married. He is remembered as being a quiet, but pleasant man. At the time of his death from a heart attack in 1988, he had been living in the Minneapolis area for many years. He is buried in the Stephen, MN cemetery next to his parents.
